As you may know, the State of Montana has recently issued new property value assessments. These notices were mailed to the address on file with your County Clerk and Recorder’s office. If you have not yet received yours, you can access it online at Montana.gov.
It’s essential to review your assessment carefully to ensure it accurately reflects your property’s value. If you believe the assessment is incorrect, you have the right to appeal—but appeals must be filed within 30 days of the notice date. To appeal, visit propertyappeal.mt.gov and submit form AB-26.
Your future property taxes will be based on this new assessed value and the mill levy(which may or may not have been sent to you based on your county). This is your one opportunity to make sure your valuation is fair and accurate, so your taxes are calculated on the most appropriate value. We have seen some clients assessed value more than double, so please take a moment to review, and let us know if we can be of any assistance.
If you have concerns about your assessment, we’re here to help—free of charge. To begin your appeal, simply reply to this email, stop by any of our branch offices, or visit us at www.myhomeMT.com to request your documents.
